Can I buy this insurance if I live outside of the UK?
No - This Gadget Travel Insurance policy is only available to people who reside in the United Kingdom, Chanel Islands or Isle of Man.

If I am already abroad can I still buy your gadget insurance?
No - You must buy your Gadget Travel Insurance policy before you leave the United Kingdom.

How old can my gadget be?
The electronic equipment must be less than 6 years old, (except for laptops which must be less than 15 months old) at the commencement date of the insurance, with valid proof of purchase. All items must have been purchased outright (not under contract) as new from a VAT registered company, but not an on-line auction site such as ebay or Gumtree, and must be in working order at the commencement date of this policy.

Can I take out cover for my work phone or laptop or a phone leased and under contract?
No, gadgets covered under your policy must be owned outright by you as you will need to provide proof or purchase when submitting a claim.

Can I insure a gadget bought from a friend?
No. Insurers cannot cover second hand gadgets. Gadgets must be purchased through a UK VAT registered company, and not an online auction site such as eBay or Gumtree.

What are my options for Gadget Travel Insurance?
Insurers offer 3 types of Gadget Travel insurance policies;
Single trip which can provide cover for trips up to 90 days duration
Longstay which can provide cover for trips up to 12 months in duration
Annual Multi-trip which can provide cover for an unlimited number of trips within a 12 month period, subject to a maximum trip duration of either 31 days, 45 days, 62 days or 92 days.

Are there different levels of cover available?
All of their Gadget Travel Insurance policies have 3 levels of cover;
Bronze -up to 3 gadgets – maximum claim value £1,000*
Silver - up to 5 gadgets - maximum claim value £2,000**
Gold - up to 7 gadgets - maximum claim value £3,000**
*Single Article Limit of £1,000
** Single Article Limit of £1,000 for all cameras, gadgets, smartphones and tablets, £2,000 for laptops 

What isAccidental damage”?
Accidental damage is the unintentional and unforeseen failure, breakage or destruction of your electronic equipment, with visible evidence of an external force being applied which results in the electronic equipment being unusable. Insurers will pay up to the amount shown in the Table of Benefits for the cost to repair the item or if uneconomical to repair Insurers will, at their discretion, provide a replacement item.

Will you cover my gadget against Liquid Damage?
If your electronic equipment is damaged as a result of it accidently coming into contact with any liquid, Insurers will pay up to the amount shown in the Table of Benefits for the cost to repair the item or provide a replacement item.

Am I covered for Theft of my gadget?
If your electronic equipment is unlawfully taken with the intent to permanently deprive you of that property, either as a result of a burglary by forcible and violent entry or taken by forcible and violent means from your person, Insurers will pay up to the amount shown in the Table of Benefits to replace it. Where only part or parts of your electronic equipment have been stolen, Insurers will only replace that part or parts.

What if my gadget breaks down?  
If there is any failure of an electrical or mechanical component due to a sudden and unforeseen fault that occurs outside the manufacturers guarantee period causing the item to stop working in the way the manufacturer intended, Insurers will pay up to the amount shown in the Table of Benefits to repair it. Where it is uneconomical to repair Insurers will, at their discretion, provide a replacement item.

Does my gadget insurance offer cover for Unauthorised Calls, Texts or Data Use?
Where your item of electronic equipment is a device where you are charged for Unauthorised Calls, Texts or Data Use and it is lost or stolen, Insurers will refund the cost of any calls, texts or data used after the time it was lost or stolen to the time it was blacklisted by your airtime provider, subject to the terms and conditions of the policy. You must report it to your airtime provider within 12 hours of the theft occurring.

What is a Replacement Item?
It is an identical item of electronic equipment of the same age and condition, or if not available, one of comparable specification or the equivalent value taking into account the age and condition of the original item.

Can I claim for something that happened in the UK?
If you have an Annual Multi-trip policy, cover applies to trips in the UK where the trip includes at least 2 nights pre-booked accommodation or involves a sea crossing or flight.

There is no cover for any claim arising whilst you are not on holiday.

If I return back home during my long stay single trip policy does it invalidate cover?
Yes, all cover under a single trip policy ceases upon your return home irrespective of the period of insurance purchased. Please note there is no premium refunds outside the 14 day cooling off period.

How many times can I claim on my policy?
Cover is limited to one claim per insured peril (Sections A, B, C, D and E) during any single Period of Insurance as defined in the policy wording.  

Cover is limited to one replacement per Period of Insurance per item, up to the amount specified in your policy schedule.

Can I cancel my policy?
Yes, if cancellation is made within the initial 14 day cooling off period you will be entitled to receive a full refund of the premium paid, provided that you have not travelled and you do not intend to make a claim.
For cancellations received after the initial 14 day cooling off period, your policy can be cancelled, but you will not be entitled to a refund.
